8 August 2010

Laura and I spent the last four days tearing, scraping, tugging, rubbing, washing layer after layer of mystery substances off our kitchen floor. Was it worth it? With bird's eye maple underneath it all, yes it will be. Now we just have to make sure there are no more nails hiding in dark corners or between boards, and sand it and varnish it. I'll post some before and after pictures when we're done.

AJ - that's Achilles Jacob - continues to be an easygoing baby. Taking care of him is easier than I expected, but still not easy, because there are so many other projects going on in our lives.

This is my last week at Quest Academy. After 12 years, it feels almost surreal to be seeing the end. I can hardly wait to stop driving 106 miles every day. Taking the train will make my life so much more enjoyable. Freedom isn't going it alone; it's choosing the most beneficial way of going.

OK, that's enough for today. Just breaking the ice. I hope to loosen up and tell more detailed stories about my doings each week. I'll be back on line next Sunday, hopefully after a day or two on an island in the Kankakee River. Hope you come with me, kiddos.
